Connecting the Dots: A Creative Workshop for Veterans

In partnership with the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Red Rock, SPARK! Creative Lab presents Connecting the Dots, a free, hands-on creative workshop for Veterans. This two-hour, community-based workshop invites Veterans to experiment, explore, and collaborate in a welcoming, low-pressure creative environment. Using Morse code as both a practical and symbolic entry point, participants will work with rhythm, visual patterns, and simple creative prompts to explore new ways of thinking and making. Together, we’ll: Translate short words or phrases into Morse code Experiment with code-based rhythm and percussion Explore visual design inspired by coded patterns Play with pattern, structure, and creative problem-solving No prior experience is needed. All Veterans, from all service branches and eras, are welcome. These workshops are free, non-clinical, and Veteran-led, and are designed as collaborative exchanges rather than classes or performances. Participation is always optional, and curiosity is encouraged. This workshop is offered in partnership with the Cohen Clinic but is not a clinical or therapeutic service. Lunch will be provided. Whether you come to experiment, connect, or simply try something new, you are welcome here. FREE RSVP: Eventbrite Link (Walk-ins are welcome, though RSVPs help us plan.) You are also free to call (405) 254-8623 or email vets@sparklahoma.org with questions or to reserve directly. Please note: This workshop is designed for Veterans only.

EAGLE OPS - Rolls & Resilience Rally Point

Rolls & Resilience Rally Point - an Eagle OPS Rally Point. Rally Points are free, recurring peer connection events where veterans, service members, first responders, and family show up, connect, and stay connected. Come as you are - we're stronger together. Normally meets: Every Monday. Rolls & Resilience Eagle OPS Jiu Jitsu Rally Point The Eagle OPS Jiu Jitsu Rally Point is an opportunity for veterans to come together through the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu — building community, connection, resilience, and camaraderie one roll at a time. This is your chance to get a little R&R — Rolls & Resilience. Step away from the noise, get on the mat, challenge yourself, and reconnect through movement, shared effort, and time well spent together. This Rally Point is open to all veterans — men and women alike. No prior knowledge or skill is required. Whether you’ve never trained before or have years of experience, you are welcome here. ⸻ What Is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu? Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling-based martial art focused on technique, leverage, and control rather than strength or size. It teaches practitioners how to stay calm under pressure, solve problems in real time, and adapt when situations don’t go as planned. For veterans, these principles are familiar. BJJ reinforces many of the same traits developed through military service: • Staying composed in uncomfortable positions • Making calculated decisions under stress • Trusting your training and your teammates • Embracing controlled adversity to grow stronger On the mat, you are constantly challenged — physically and mentally. You learn to manage pressure, recover from setbacks, and keep moving forward. Every roll becomes a lesson in persistence and adaptability. That’s where the resilience is built. Beyond the physical benefits, BJJ creates shared effort and shared progress — a structured environment where veterans can reconnect through discipline, movement, and mutual respect. ⸻ When & Where Location: Burdette Jiu Jitsu https://burdettejiujitsu.com/ We are grateful to Burdette Jiu Jitsu for serving as our Rally Point location and graciously hosting our mat space. Date & Time: [Insert Date] [Insert Time] ⸻ Attire (No-Gi Session) This Rally Point will be No-Gi, meaning: • Athletic shorts (drawstring recommended — no zippers or pockets) • T-shirt or rash guard • Women may prefer leggings and a fitted athletic top ⸻ Hygiene & Mat Etiquette Out of respect for everyone on the mat: • Clean training clothes • Trimmed nails (hands and feet) • Good personal hygiene is required • No shoes or socks on the mat ⸻ Come get a little R&R. Roll. Reset. Build resilience.
