CONNECTING THE DOTS: A CREATIVE WORKSHOP FOR VETERANS

Friday, September 11, 2026 | 1:00–3:00 PM Oklahoma City VA Health Care System In recognition of Suicide Prevention Month, the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System and SPARK! Creative Lab present Connecting the Dots, a free, hands-on creative workshop for Veterans. Guided by professional Veteran and civilian artists, participants will explore Morse code rhythm and mask painting in a welcoming, low-pressure creative environment. The workshop uses Morse code as both a practical and symbolic starting point, inviting Veterans to experiment with sound, pattern, color, and personal expression. Connection, belonging, and opportunities for meaningful expression can play an important role in overall well-being. Connecting the Dots creates space for Veterans to make something, try something new, and connect with others. Participants are welcome to share as much or as little as they choose, alongside people who understand and value the Veteran experience. Together, we’ll: Translate a short word or phrase into Morse code Turn coded patterns into rhythm and percussion Explore color, symbol, and visual storytelling through mask painting Experiment with pattern, structure, and creative problem-solving Create alongside professional Veteran and civilian artists No prior creative experience is needed. Veterans from all service branches and eras are welcome. You do not need to be tethered to the VA to participate. Connecting the Dots workshops are free, non-clinical, and Veteran-led. Participation is always optional, and personal disclosure is never required. Whether you come to experiment, connect, or simply try something new, you are welcome here. EAGLE OPS - Rolls & Resilience Rally Point

Rolls & Resilience Rally Point - an Eagle OPS Rally Point. Rally Points are free, recurring peer connection events where veterans, service members, first responders, and family show up, connect, and stay connected. Come as you are - we're stronger together. Normally meets: 2nd Friday. Rolls & Resilience Eagle OPS Jiu Jitsu Rally Point The Eagle OPS Jiu Jitsu Rally Point is an opportunity for veterans to come together through the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - building community, connection, resilience, and camaraderie one roll at a time. This is your chance to get a little R&R - Rolls & Resilience. Step away from the noise, get on the mat, challenge yourself, and reconnect through movement, shared effort, and time well spent together. This Rally Point is open to all veterans - men and women alike. No prior knowledge or skill is required. Whether you’ve never trained before or have years of experience, you are welcome here. ⸻ What Is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu? Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling-based martial art focused on technique, leverage, and control rather than strength or size. It teaches practitioners how to stay calm under pressure, solve problems in real time, and adapt when situations don’t go as planned. For veterans, these principles are familiar. BJJ reinforces many of the same traits developed through military service: • Staying composed in uncomfortable positions • Making calculated decisions under stress • Trusting your training and your teammates • Embracing controlled adversity to grow stronger On the mat, you are constantly challenged - physically and mentally. You learn to manage pressure, recover from setbacks, and keep moving forward. Every roll becomes a lesson in persistence and adaptability. That’s where the resilience is built. Beyond the physical benefits, BJJ creates shared effort and shared progress - a structured environment where veterans can reconnect through discipline, movement, and mutual respect. ⸻ When & Where Location: Burdette Jiu Jitsu https://burdettejiujitsu.com/ We are grateful to Burdette Jiu Jitsu for serving as our Rally Point location and graciously hosting our mat space. Date & Time: [Insert Date] [Insert Time] ⸻ Attire (No-Gi Session) This Rally Point will be No-Gi, meaning: • Athletic shorts (drawstring recommended - no zippers or pockets) • T-shirt or rash guard • Women may prefer leggings and a fitted athletic top ⸻ Hygiene & Mat Etiquette Out of respect for everyone on the mat: • Clean training clothes • Trimmed nails (hands and feet) • Good personal hygiene is required • No shoes or socks on the mat ⸻ Come get a little R&R. Roll. Reset. Build resilience.
