Description:
About the Event
Veterans and families—get ready to hit the water. Kayaks and Krayons is a monthly Rally Point where we trade boots for boats, swap stories in the sunshine, and bring a little chaos and connection to the water.
Whether you’ve never stepped into a kayak or you paddle like you were born with a paddle in hand, this is your chance to build skills, laugh hard, and make memories on the water. You'll learn paddling techniques, practice rescues, and have plenty of time to just float and hang out. Adaptive options are available—no one gets left on the shoreline.
This event is powered through a partnership between Eagle OPS and Team River Runner, a national organization helping veterans heal through paddle sports. Their certified instructors bring the gear, the knowledge, and the vibes. You just show up ready for action.
And yes—crayons are optional. But if you're a Marine, we recommend bringing red… they float best and taste like victory.
Why “Kayaks and Krayons”?
Because someone had to do it. Crayons are not required for this event... unless you're a Marine. In that case, feel free to bring snacks. Red tastes best.
What to Expect:
Veteran-led fun on the water
Kayak instruction & safety training
All gear provided (or bring your own)
Adaptive equipment available
Ice, water, and Gatorade on-site
16-person gear limit – rotations if needed
Details:
Minimum age: 10 (Families with kids younger than 10 are absolutely welcome to join us for the fun on shore—but for safety, only participants age 10 and up will be allowed in the kayaks.)
Open to: Veterans and their families
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: Blue Creek Campground, Oologah Lake
Registration required
Get on the water. Bring the crew. Leave the stress behind.
Crayons optional—but strongly encouraged for Marines.
