Description:
RSVP for Rose State College Film Screening on the History of Black Rosie the Riveters
FILM DETAILS:
Charlie Horse Productions -
Invisible Warriors: African American Women in World War II
features real pioneers – the first Black women to work in industry and government administrative service.
The film is an unforgettable conversation among a diverse group of African American “Rosie the Riveters” who recount what life was really like during World War II. They are hardworking underdogs of high character who do battle and win. They fled lives as domestics and sharecroppers to empower themselves while working in war production and U.S. government offices. These patriotic pioneers share their wartime memories, recounting their battles against racism at home, Nazism abroad, and sexism everywhere. They represent 600,000 women like themselves who overcame the Great Depression, Jim Crow, sexual degradation, and workplace discrimination to break gender and racial barriers. Black “Rosie the Riveters” were part of a sisterhood of 20 million women who built America’s “arsenal of democracy.” Without these women, the United States could not have won World War II.
EVENT DETAILS:
Join us at Rose State College for this special screening and enjoy a Q&A session with Director and Producer of the film, Gregory S. Cooke, following immediately after the showing. Don't let this chance slip by to witness the strength and resilience of these remarkable women, whose contributions have remained invisible for far too long. Mark your calendars and be part of a memorable evening that promises not only to educate but to inspire.
