Thank you very much for your interest in assisting veterans and the Library of Congress in this interview event sponsored by the American Red Cross, U.S. Senator James Lankford, and the Travis Manion Foundation Central Oklahoma Chapter. Veterans are free to speak about whatever they want in the interview, as long as it includes personal accounts of their military service.
Veterans telling their stories must fill out two required forms, the Biographical Data Form, and the Veteran's Release form. The release form gives the Veterans History Project permission to make your interview publicly available for nonprofit research purposes. It DOES NOT give away any rights. Copyright, likeness rights, and story rights are all retained by the veteran.
Please download, print, and bring the completed forms with you to your interview: both forms are attached on this email
Biographical data form: https://www.loc.gov/.../vhp-field-kit-biographical.pdf
Veteran's Release form: https://www.loc.gov/.../vhp-field-kit-veterans-release.pdf
These interviews are unedited and uncensored, so their words will go into the historical record exactly as they said them. Here is a list of sample questions on the Library of Congress website: https://www.loc.gov/.../how.../sample-interview-questions/
If you have any questions please contact Senator Lankford's Tulsa Office at (918) 581-7651 or email okveteranshistory@gmail.com
You’ll see for each interview we will need an interviewer and a note taker. OK Red Cross VHP training video for volunteers:
